Preparing for your in-home newborn photography session in Chandler, AZ

Offering in-home newborn photography services in and around Chandler, AZ I believe that this is where you and your newborn baby will be most relaxed. While being able to include a setting that is uniquely yours, in-home newborn sessions help keep older siblings entertained and allow me to include family pets as well. My number one goal is to offer an experience that’s enjoyable for everyone involved. This starts by making sure your space is ready to go upon my arrival.

Your home does not have to be perfect. After all it is your home which is supposed to look lived in. I recommend that you focus on simply decluttering your space. Please also give windows or mirrors a quick wipe, as streaks or dust on these surfaces can be very obvious in photographs. I’m a bit of a neat freak. You will find me move items that may appear distracting in photographs. Whether that’s a remote control on your night stand or your cell phone left on the dresser, those are items that I’d like to avoid in your newborn portraits. I promise I won’t turn your home upside down.

The room temperature is very important for your baby’s comfort. Please turn on the heat or, alternatively, turn off the air conditioning. The adults may feel a bit hot and uncomfortable, but your baby will be toasty and happy.

Before my arrival, I recommend swaddling your baby in just a diaper and a warm blanket. They tend to like that and it’s a sweet photo opportunity for me. While I have props and accessories for you to pick from, I suggest you choose a simple onesie without prints and/or patters. Simplicity will go a long way and doesn’t take away from the sweet features of your precious angel.

While wearing comfortable clothing is highly recommended, I do encourage neutral colors, steering away from shirts with logos or bold patterns. Casual clothing is perfect and bare feet look most natural in a home setting. Moms, consider a light flowy shirt, maxi dress, or a pretty cotton gown that will be both comfortable and soft while you are cuddling with your new baby.

Do you have any questions or concerns? I’m happy to swing by for an in-home consultation to chat ideas and guide you through the process.

Thank you, Stacey. In-home newborn sessions are the best. They offer so much variety and privacy which, especially with the nursing pictures, are hard to capture in a studio location.
