Virginia is for lovers. That’s for sure. I love the many historical sites this beautiful state has to offer. George Washington River Farm is a gem within the Washington D.C. area. With its scenic location on the Potomac River, it’s a great venue for weddings and everyone interested in American history. I am so excited to share Chris and Katrin’s maternity images with you. They recommended this location to me as this is where they got married in March six years ago. They couldn’t have picked a more perfect place. I am in awe of its beauty and stunning views it has to offer.
I met this handsome couple on a late Sunday afternoon in July. I remember it being really hot and humid outside. Not a good combination for an expectant mom, but Katrin did amazingly well. Meeting later in the day definitely helped a bit and the lighting was just gorgeous. Chris and Katrin are expecting a baby boy. They brought a couple of personal items for me to use duriing their session. I loved the idea of incorporating the first letter of their son’s name. We started the session at the entrance of the George Washington River Farm House. It was mostly shaded with a little bit of sunlight peaking in through the trees. I try to avoid full sun exposure as much as possible, but I do love the natural glow in the images the late afternoon sun provided. We proceeded into shady areas in front of the house and headed toward the river at the end of the session. It was then when the sun appeared lower and lower in the sky, giving us the most beautiful athmosphere I have ever witnessed as a photographer. Please believe me when I say that I have not added any fake lighting or haze in the images using the power of photoshop.
Early September I am going to meet these two love birds again for an outdoor newborn photography session. We decided on the same location. How lucky am I? Dear Chris and Katrin, thank you so much for letting me capture these memories for you. You guys make an amazing couple and I can see that Baby L.is loved so much already. I’m looking forward to working with you on your newborn portraits. Until then, I wish you a happy summer and stay cool as much as you possibly can! 😉***I am specializing in maternity, newborn and baby photography in Northern Virginia, D.C. and Maryland and am located in Ashburn, Northern Virginia.
