This Northern Virginia winter maternity photography session in Old Town Alexandria is most certainly one of my recent favorites. Captured on Super Bowl Sunday, we enjoyed less crowded streets and witnessed a magical snowfall, too. Avery and Richard will be welcoming a sweet baby girl this April. Being transplants from Florida and Virginia Beach, including elements of water in their maternity photo shoot offered a personal touch to the couple. We agreed to meet at the Torpedo Factory and navigated towards the beautiful side streets of Old Town Alexandria from there.
If you have been following my work you know that I have a sweet spot for animals. Dogs are my absolute favorite. Avery and Richard loved the idea of having little Miss Abby join in on the fun. Not only was she well behaved (for most part, ha!), but her coloring worked very well with the blush pink of Avery’s maternity gown. How adorable is that little pooch?
Before heading into town, Avery changed into a more casual outfit. Knowing that it was going to snow, I loved the idea of Avery wearing a sweater dress and a scarf to highlight the winter theme. She looked absolutely stunning if I may say so. If you can’t decide between a couple of outfits, don’t worry! Just bring both of them.
I cannot wait to see them again for their in-home newborn session in April. If you are looking to schedule your maternity and/or newborn session, I’d love to hear from you.

You know I’m a sucker for including the dog! You might have me convinced that winter is the best season for maternity photos. Beautiful!
You’re too funny. Thank you for your kind words. Here’s to including more dogs and snow, ha!
