Choosing the right Phoenix newborn photographer can be an overwhelming task when you don’t know where to start. There are things to consider and questions to ask when booking your session. The internet is full of choices. The sky is the limit. I highly recommend trying to figure out what style you are drawn to the most. The two different newborn photography styles to consider are posed and lifestyle newborn photography.
What is the difference between posed newborn photography and lifestyle newborn photography? The goal of lifestyle photography is to capture a subject in a non-intrusive, natural and real-life way in the comfort of your own home. It takes a newborn and their family exactly as they are – without expectations. I love being able to capture raw emotions and interactions that would otherwise be lost in a studio setting. I have you snuggle up and hold your newborn as you naturally would. I have you cuddle up alongside your significant other and document the way you two look at the little human you so beautifully created. Lifestyle photography is a chance for you to embrace how much love you have for your newborn and capture sweet, candid moments with them. Specializing in posed newborn photography, I have discovered my passion combining the lifestyle photography approach with simple newborn poses. This allows me to provide you individual portraits of your little bundle of joy in a beautiful and creative way. Whether it’s your master bedroom, nursery, or living room, it is my vision to provide a meaningful setting that is uniquely yours. Alternatively, you can opt to have your newborn portraits taken at a photography studio of your choice.
When searching for a newborn photographer, pricing seems to be the number one question that comes to mind upon inquiring. Imagine yourself in the market for a new pair of pants. What criteria is most important to you? Is it the price tag first and foremost, or is it important how they make you feel when you wear them? It should be no different when deciding on a newborn photographer. There are photographers with very limited experience and hobbyists who offer photography services on the side. Professional photographers are registered, licensed and insured. Professional photographers are trained to safely handle your precious little angel. They further know the ins and outs of using professional photography equipment no matter the setting and light source.
Each client has different values. I only book a limited number of sessions each month to allow for excellent client service. I highly believe in quality over quantity. Every shoot is customized to my client’s wishes and I invest a great amount of time getting to know you and what you envision for your shoot. Whether we meet on Zoom or at a local coffee shop, this is the time to get all of your questions answered. I believe it’s less a blind date meeting the photographer ahead of your photo shoot. This allows for you to feel a lot more comfortable in front of the camera which is especially important when photographing intimate genres.
If you happen to like multiple photographers I would urge you to read up on reviews on Google and/or Yelp. Are they recent reviews? Did the photographer just receive a star rating or did the client spend time to write a lenghty paragraph about his/her experience?
