Thank you for your interest in my blog entry about the delightful newborn photography session in Leesburg, Northern Virginia. I promise you that the photos will put a smile on your face? Meet baby girl, Lydia Charlotte. Lydia lives in Leesburg, Virginia and already has a big sister. Unfortunately, Amelia did not want to get her pictures taken. Yes, parents, it does happen. Working with young children is a challenge, especially when trying to photograph newborns and toddlers. You cannot force them. Even bribery doesn’t always work (their mom tried EVERYTHING) and I am not a magician either. It is possible though, that Amelia wasn’t feeling her best. She had a cold and so did Lydia. I do recommend you talking to your older child/children beforehand, so they know about me and what to expect. Mark and Caroline had already moved some of their furniture around so I could set up my equipment. Since I do not have studio space I always email out a small guideline for the parents to help me make their newborn session a successful experience. Lighting is always a challenge, but it’s a challenge I can work with. Lydia was asleep when I got there, so I ended up swaddling her to start the session by putting her in a couple of props that I brought. It was then when I captured her smiling? Meanwhile, Caroline kept Amelia occupied while Mark was curiously watching over my shoulders. Later on, Mark took Amelia to the doctors office to make her appointment she had that morning. Caroline assisted me while I was gently posing her daughter on the beanbag. Although Lydia had a hard time breathing due to the cold she was battling, she did really well. I’m extremely satisfied with the outcome of this session and I know Mark and Caroline are, too. Caroline told me that she shed a tear or two when she saw the very first image I posted of her daughter on Facebook. My goal is to make people cry? Not because I did such a terrible job as a photographer, but because they are deeply moved by the photos I take.
