Home for the Holidays / Loudoun County Virginia Family Photographer / Amato Family

Home is where your story begins. Having spent a majority of my adolesence in a children’s home in Germany, I did not understand the true meaning of what it’s like to have a loving and welcoming home. It all changed when I came to the United States over a decade ago. As an au pair in a foreign country, I was not at all treated like an employee. Instead, I learned what it’s like to have a family that truly cares. Two American families have since opened their homes and their hearts to me. They have helped me become the woman I am today and for that I am truly grateful. I am proud to call them family.

Welcome to the Amato family! We drove all the way to Lynchburg to spend Thanksgiving with them this year. Unfortunately, Joe had been away on a business trip. However, we were excited to spend the festivities with the rest of the family. Hillary had been around when my hubby and I were first dating back in 2007. She had told me that he is “husband material”. Boy, was she was right about that! We’ve been married for eight years and I couldn’t imagine life with another man by my side. I used to watch her kids on occasion to help pay for my college tuition. It’s nice to see how much they have changed. It’s hard to believe they’re all grown up.

Hillary is an amazing cook. She’s always been. She can whip up a gourmet meal in no time. Thanksgiving dinner was delicious. We decided to grab a few family photos afterwards. I was racing against the sunset, but couldn’t be happier with how these images turned out. Hilly, thank you so much for letting us spend Thanksgiving with you and your family this year. Thanks for the fun times playing “phase ten” and for watching the Hallmark channel with me. Who doesn’t like Christmas movies, right?😝 I wish you lived closer. We miss you all!😘
