I finally had my very first outdoor newborn photography session with baby Charlie and his parents, Drew and Kasey. Kasey and I met in a college statistics class eight years ago. Has it really been eight years already? Time flies. Wow!😳 I drove to Chesapeake, Virginia to visit her and to take Charlie’s newborn pictures. I was so excited when she mentioned she would love to take them in their backyard. Hello outdoor newborn photography😁
The morning I was going to leave for Chesapeake, Kasey informed me that Charlie spent the night at the hospital due to a fever he was battling. We were unsure if we would be able to do the newborn session at all. Since I had already made hotel arrangements, I decided to go regardless and just be “on call” in case Charlie would be released early. I also had not seen Kasey in a while and wanted to congratulate her on her newest family addition. Kasey was told that Charlie needed to stay at the hospital for as long as forty-eight hours and I unfortunately did not have another day to visit. To make things worse, it was raining cats and dogs on the way to my destination. It just was not meant to be. I was wrong, oh so wrong! Luckily, sweet Charlie was released early and we had the most beautiful weather in the early evening hours. Charlie was very sleepy which was just what I needed for a posed newborn photography session. I started posing him using my little rustic wagon while Kasey and Drew got ready for the family pictures. Since Charlie was not feeling his best, I did not spend too much time on the poses and focused on the family pictures instead. After all, a sick baby just wants to be held and loved on. Unfortunately, we had not been able to take as many family pictures as we had hoped. I offered to meet them again the next day to grab a few more shots. It was worth coming back a secoond time.
Drew and Kasey, congrats again on your very handsome baby boy. I truly enjoyed meeting him and capturing these memories for you. Enjoy every moment of parenthood. Kids grow up way too fast.
