Christmas themed DC in home newborn photography

This Christmas themed DC in home newborn photography session is most definitely an awesome one to share as we approach the holidays. Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Stephanie, your professional photographer for maternity and newborn portraits in Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C. Metro area. In home sessions allow you to have a bit of home in all of your newborn photos.  You get to see your master bed, your favorite sofa,…or even your most gorgeous Christmas decoration. This makes the end result feel a lot more personal as opposed to a photography studio location.

Document your DC in home newborn photography early!

Luke was already six weeks old when I visited the family a couple of weeks ago in their gorgeous home in Leesburg, Virginia. I typically recommend newborn photos to be captured 5-18 days after birth, for newborns tend to be super sleepy. It further allows me to pose them into sweet womb-like poses which is more difficult to attempt as they approach the one month mark. Luke was definitely a lot more alert, but I’m not sad about it at all. It might have been a bit of a struggle to swaddle him (hello newborn “straight jacket“), but boy do I love the shots with his eyes wide open!

Luke actually has an older brother who was still at preschool when I arrived. Knowing he’s an energetic kid, we decided to start with the newborn photos first and to have Charlie join us when he arrived home. When Don left to pick up his son, I captured the most gorgeous pictures of Luke, his puppy, and his mama.

And here’s the big brother. Mom and dad weren’t kidding about him being all over the place, ha!
