Finding the right location for a maternity photo shoot can be challenging, especially in the Northern Virginia area. There are so many beautiful locations to choose from, but one that stands out above the rest is Old Town Alexandria. This Old Town Alexandria maternity photoshoot was an absolute delight to capture.
In this article, I’ll cover all the details of this beautiful Old Town Alexandria maternity photoshoot and how you can book your own with me, your Northern Virginia maternity photographer.
What Is Old Town Alexandria?
Old Town Alexandria is the heart of Alexandria City, Virginia, and one of its original settlements. Located on the Potomac River waterfront, this nationally designated historic district is a blend of colonial charm and modern vibrancy. It’s known for King Street Mile, filled with over 200 independent restaurants and boutiques. The area also hosts popular attractions like the historic Christ Church. Old Town offers a welcoming escape with its rich history, picturesque streets, and farm-to-table dining scene.

Old Town Alexandria Maternity Photoshoot Details
This Northern Virginia maternity photography session in Old Town Alexandria is most certainly one of my recent favorites. We agreed to meet on Super Bowl Sunday, which meant less crowded streets. Plus, we even witnessed a magical snowfall.
Avery and Richard will be welcoming a sweet baby girl this April. Being transplants from Florida and Virginia Beach, we decided to include elements of water in their maternity photo shoot to make the photos a bit more personal. We agreed to meet at the Torpedo Factory and navigated towards the beautiful side streets of Old Town Alexandria from there.
If you have been following my work, you know that I have a sweet spot for animals. Dogs are my absolute favorite. Avery and Richard loved the idea of having little Miss Abby join in on the fun. Not only was she well-behaved (for the most part, ha!), but her coloring worked very well with the blush pink of Avery’s maternity gown. How adorable is that little puppy?
Before heading into town, Avery changed into a more casual outfit. Knowing that it was going to snow, I loved the idea of Avery wearing a sweater dress and a scarf to highlight the winter theme. She looked absolutely stunning.
