Family

October 10, 2023

I can’t get over this adorable Rust Manor family session that I captured in Leesburg, VA, earlier this month. Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Stephanie, one of the most adored and highly rated professional newborn and family photographers in Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C. metro area, and I am grateful that you have found me.

Rust Manor is most certainly a favorite location for weddings and events in Northern Virginia. This unique historic venue is located close to downtown Leesburg and nestled in a 64-acre nature sanctuary. The gorgeous gardens and the majestic trees offer a beautiful backdrop for photo sessions. Oliver’s adorable baby portrait session is no exception.

If you are gearing up for your family session, whether at Rust Manor or anywhere else, these 4 quick tips will help ensure a successful experience with your baby.

A Fed Baby Is A Happy Baby

Please make sure your baby has a full tummy at our session time. A fed baby is a happy baby! Feel free to give them some of their favorite foods and/or snacks right before the shoot. We want to avoid capturing images of your little one eating. A cake smash session is an exception, of course!

Timing Is Everything

Schedule your session right after your baby’s nap time and when they are at their happiest time of day. As a Northern Virginia baby photographer, I know babies are on their own schedules. I do not schedule more than one session a day so that I can be flexible for your family.

Change Your Baby At The Photo Shoot Location

Please wait until you are at the session location to get your baby dressed in their outfit. This will ensure that there are no wardrobe accidents prior to the session and will help avoid wrinkles as well. A change of outfit is always a good idea, too!

Avoid Bringing Toys

Please leave toys that you do not want to be photographed at home. A family session is all about capturing the time you spend together. As your Northern Virginia family photographer, I have lots of experience working with children. A toy can pose a huge distraction.
